Its unacceptable. I've been reading the facebook comments on their page, and there are MANY people that haven't got them yet. Some people were traveling a week earlier, and they didn't get their tickets, i feel bad for them.

Looks like a trip to AUS is in order to spot some heavy iron. Maybe tomorrow.

i have family from Mexico DF coming with their own ticket issues. They bought the ticket insurance and plane tickets. They haven't got anything either. Time is ticking very quickly. I didn't know there was that many others with the same issue

Whoa! So do all the teams ship out their stuff from their factories or does the FIA handle everything?

Don't be worried.
My dad and I attended the British GP this year (general admission tickets ftw!) as part of a two week vacation across Europe that we both saved together for over five years. Anyways, it was about a week and a half til race weekend, and our tickets hadn't arrived yet, so we were starting to worry about them, as we had ordered them back in March (this was mid June). Well, the day before we left on our trip, our tickets arrived! Talk about good timing or what?
Either way, just take a deep breath and relax. Call the customer support if you really want to, but don't expect much help from them.
I hope you enjoy the race, and take plenty of videos and pictures! =D

I think the teams do it separately.

This is so cool! I've always wondered how they do this. I wonder how many sensitive bits are taken off the car before shipping. Cool stuff. Wish to hell I was in Austin next weekend. Praying for New Jersey GP. Fingers crossed.

Man, I thought I was the only one. Still waiting on my damn tickets to arrive...why is it so hard?
![]() 11/08/2013 at 13:00 |

i'll give them til Monday before I call. Got family for outside 'Merica flying over for this.

I got an email saying that "the tickets have been printed and are being sent via US Mail!", which equates to either a bunch of shit or the world's slowest printer. It also frustrates me to no end that I had to pay $15 for what comes down to 1 month delivery via US Mail.

exactly, i read the same thing. The 14 days (im guessing business day but none the less) have long past.

Yeah I always wonder how where the cars shipped.
New Jersey is closer to you huh?

I'm about two hours from the proposed course. I'm really hoping it happens this year. But I'm not going to hold my breath.

The teams handle all their own transportation when the race is in Europe, but for the "fly-away" races such as at COTA or Japan, they load everything into special cargo boxes and take it to either the London or Munich airports where 6 FOM jumbo jets take over and deliver it to the track.

I live 45 minutes from the proposed site and if it ever does happen, I will shit my pants with delight, put on another pair of pants, and shit those too.

I wonder who pays for all the normal freight? It sounds like the teams do which is kind of dumb considering they don't have any say over the schedule, and they use Bernie's freight company so that means even more money for him, because we all know he needs more money.

anyone know what "F.O.M." is?

thank you. I should've just googled it but I'm lazy. I thought it was kind of interesting that the management company actually has to transport the cars rather than the teams.

Caterham has some cool videos on youtube that show some of the process. I found them while looking for info about the mobile team buildings they use.

It's a contract that FOM has with DHL for the series. IIRC, the transport of the cars and xx tons of equipment (by air) to each fly away Grand Prix and fly away official test is included in the annual fee paid by each team to FOM.

FOM handles all the logistics for materials and equipment. It's actually much better for them to do it - imagine if all the teams had to finagle forklift operators, customs passage, and freight for their own cars and gear...it'd be an unholy mess, and there would exist a certain grey area wherein teams could find a way to prevent their competitors from getting their stuff. Anecdotal evidence and stories exist that this exact sort of shadyness was a regular occurrence before FOM got involved and may have manipulated the results of many GP and constructor battles once upon a time.
At any rate, FOM needs a reason to exist and this gives them a solid presence.

I'm about 20 away, as much as I'd love to see it happen the area seems so non-F1 for Bernie to give the thumbs up. Houses, apartment blocks, manholes, and a water treatment plant! Imo they should really gun for a race actually in NY, as many parades and festivals there are already it can't really be that much bigger of a deal (considering revenue brought from F1 vs zeppole stands.) Brooklyn or Queens if Manhattan is to troublesome.. I'm from NJ and could never live with the "New Jersey Grand Prix". Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Monaco, New Jersey..
What?

C63 AMG Estate? On US soil? Someone steal it before the race starts.

Dude, i heard that fucker on the track last year, Sounds exactly the same as the SLS. Deep mother V8 gruntle sounds crazy.

You found it easier to ask a question and receive an answer on Jalopnik than on Google?
This is strong evidence indeed that the Kinja coders have come a long way.

Also sucks because if it doesn't happen this year, you'll never get to see 24 V8 F1's roaring around a track.
